Frank White Blues Singer Guitar Slinger
British singer and blues guitarist, Frank White was an accomplished artist with a deep understanding of the Blues. His cool and laid-back presence on stage, his mastery of the electric guitar and his deeply soulful voice were perfectly suited to both Blues and Rhythm & Blues, always determinedly playing his version of the Blues and in his own style. "I don't try to sound like Muddy Waters or Howlin' Wolf. Why should I try and sound like them. I am what I am." Frank was born and lived in Sheffield where he was for many years a major figure on the local music scene creating a strong and loyal following as well as making his considerable mark on the British blues scene. His guitar playing embraced many different styles and he cited influences from Country music as well as Blues and R&B with artists such as Elvis Presley from the early Sun Records era, Bill Monroe and Ray Charles. After Elvis Presley died Frank wrote his heartfelt tribute song entitled Tupelo after the town where Elvis was born which he later acknowledged as one of the best songs he had ever written. A popular fixture on any festival line-up Frank would always deliver an impassioned performance showcasing his considerable vocal and guitar skills to an appreciative audience. Recorded by Blues Archive at The Oxford Blues and Roots Festival, Oxford, England - May 1997.
